Support The Farms
More than 40 years ago, Dr. William Murray had a vision for 500 acres just outside Des Moines: create a living history museum to preserve and teach generations to come about America's agricultural heritage. Today, Living History Farms is a nationally renowned not-for-profit agricultural museum that remains true to that vision. The foresight of Dr. Murray still guides the museum as we continue to tell the story of the changes in Midwestern agriculture and rural life.
But we can't do it alone. The success of our mission depends on gifts from people who share our vision. Whether it is a donation of cash, an in-kind gift, a bequest or an annuity, your support enables Living History Farms to bring history to life for more than 137,000 visitors of all ages and backgrounds, from all 50 states and more than 60 countries each year.
There are a variety of ways to make a lasting impact on Living History Farms. We invite you to take some time to learn about the many opportunities available to support Living History Farms.
Annual Fund The Annual Fund is a yearly campaign to raise unrestricted gifts from individual, corporate, and foundation friends to support Living History Farms' vision and mission. Annual Fund gifts provide funding to all areas of the museum. These gifts make it possible for Living History Farms to sustain the quality of our programs and services.
Planned Gifts The Walnut Hill Society is a group of people who have made Living History Farms the beneficiary of their wills, annuities, life insurance policies, charitable trusts and life estates.
Corporate Sponsorships Living History Farms relies on the generosity of many companies to support our mission. These sponsorships help to underwrite the substantial costs of maintaining Living History Farms' historic buildings and artifacts. Corporate Sponsorships also help us present educational programs and special events that bring history to life for visitors of all ages.
Matching Gifts Your gift may be eligible for a matching gift offered by your employer. Please check with your Human Resources or Public Affairs Department for more information. Most matching gift companies match your gift dollar for dollar, thus doubling your support of Living History Farms.
Donate an Item Living History Farms is continually looking for donations of items for the museum. The Curations Department seeks artifacts to add to our historic sites and programs. The Interpretive Resource Library needs books, maps and other documents about agricultural and Midwestern history. The Administration Office accepts donations of office supplies and equipment. Donations may be tax deductible.
Your charitable gifts may be eligible for tax deductions, in accordance with IRS regulations. For tax or legal advice, please consult your tax advisor.
